Lange, Dresden, quality 1A, 52mm, heavy 18K gold original HC with "C.W.S" marking in cameo for retailer Charles William Schumann of New York, small Jurgensen-style lips, gold cuvette, bow with chain guards, white enamel SS dial, SW-shifting-LS, fully capped lever escapement with gold escape wheel and pallet, diamond endstone, 20-21J, gilt mvt, s#8696 with matching serial number within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 88.8 dwt (138.2 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, setting mechanism not engaging, overhaul needed for setting function, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with few fine scratches and surface spots, larger winding wheel with spot of abrasion at perimeter where it appears some oxide has been scraped, some small spots of oxide elsewhere to larger winding wheel; dial flawless though with some surface dirtiness; fine hands, hour with spots of oxide and finish loss to spade and tip, minute with finish loss throughout its swell; case shows little wear, no dents or dings, good overall engine turning detail though with reduction at shoulders; tight bow, crown shows ample wear; good glass crystal.
